Swine Flu
The Swine Flu is on everyone's radar, causing concern and intense preventions. I came across this article, http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news;_ylt=An_oBN02pX6w5kq3SjEGPbM5nYcB?slug=ap-texashssports-swineflu&prov=ap&type=lgns, about Texas officials canceling High School sports due to the Swine Flu concerns.
There have been 16 confirmed cases of Swine Flu in Texas, and the entire state was announced a disaster declaration on Wednesday. Due to the confirmed cases, Texas will get federal reimbursement. I think it is good that we are taking every necessary prevention and caution in this case of a possible pandemic. Growing concerns are likely to develop throughout the rest of April and May.
“The health and safety of our student activity participants is of the utmost importance,” Breithaupt said. “Taking every possible precaution to prevent the further spreading of this disease is an important contribution to the welfare of our great state, and altering the schedule of our events is a way to keep our participants safe.”
